Snake Near the Grass

Snake Near the Grass

Saw this little guy on a walk today. He (or she) let me admire his magnificence long enough to take one photo. Then he’d had enough, and he left.

This is a gorgeous snake! Love how it’s color serves as camouflage, too. Do you know what kind it is or if it is poisonous?

  2. Linda says:

I live in Montreal and never get to see snakes, really…except for perhaps in a pet store. What gorgeous colourings! I do not think it is poisonous, because its eyes are round…and not slanted. Thank you so much for sharing.

  3. Geoff says:

    Beautifully vivid colours, well spotted!

  4. Lowell, I think it’s a garter snake. Apparently, there are three different species of garter here in Washington. We don’t have any venomous snakes in this part of the state, but there are some rattlers in Eastern Washington.

He/she is just gorgeous, and beautifully captured. I’ve rarely seen a snake coiled. That’s very cool!
